First salon in years where I did not feel like I was on a conveyor belt. Nadia spent twenty minutes just talking about my hair before she touched it, and the colour has grown out so softly I keep putting off my next visit.
A calm room in a loud city.
An independent colour and skin studio on Jamaica Street. Unhurried appointments, one stylist start to finish, and a chair you will not want to leave. Book the room, not just the cut.

We built the studio we wanted to be a client in
MALLOW & STONE started in 2016 above a record shop on Jamaica Street, with one chair, a kettle and a rule that nobody would ever be rushed. We have grown to four chairs and a skin room, but the rule has not moved.
You get one stylist for the whole appointment, from the first conversation to the last mirror check. No being passed around, no being parked under a dryer and forgotten. We keep the diary deliberately loose so your time is yours, and we would rather see you twice a year and get it right than book you in every six weeks out of habit.
We colour with Davines because it smells like a garden, not a chemistry set, and because it is kinder to your hair and the river the salon drains into. Everything we use is vegan and never tested on animals. The coffee is good, the chairs are comfortable, and you are allowed to sit in silence if that is the kind of hour you need.

Inside the studio
The room, the light and a little of the work. Real plants, real Bristol weather through the window, real colour by our own team.

What regulars say
I came in with a Pinterest board and a lot of nerves. They were honest about what would actually suit me, talked me down from the bleach, and I have never had so many compliments. Worth every penny.
The quiet hour is the only reason I get my hair done at all. Low lights, no music, nobody making small talk I have to perform for. Cannot tell you how much that matters.
Booked a cut, ended up booking the facial too, and now both are in the diary every season. Calm, unhurried, and they remember what you talked about last time. That is rare.
Took my mum for her birthday and they treated her like the most important person in Bristol. She has been back three times since. That tells you everything.
I have curly hair and most salons either fear it or fight it. These two understand it. First proper cut I have had where I left and did not immediately wash it out.
How booking works
Three steps, no app to download, no deposit to lose.
Reserve a chair
Pick a service and a stylist, or just tell us roughly what you are after and we will match you. New colour clients book a quick patch test first, and it is free.
We hold the time
You get a real slot with one stylist for the whole appointment. We send a friendly reminder the day before, and you can move it once at no charge if life happens.
You sit down and exhale
Coffee, a proper consultation, and an hour that is yours. We confirm any colour price before we start, so there are never surprises at the desk.
Reserve a chair
New colour clients, book a free patch test first and we will sort the rest from there. Everyone else, pick a time that suits and we will hold the room for you.
